$10 Mall Challenge- For competitive types, this is a great Valentine's Day idea. Each of you gets ten dollars to spend on a gift for the other at the local mall (or shopping center that you mutually agree upon).
Next, you will need to set a time limit and a final meeting place. You might want to sync your watches just to be sure of the time.
Then set off individually to find the best gift that you can for your partner without going over the ten-dollar limit. Whoever buys the best gift wins.
The prize (and the judge) is also up to you to decide upon. Of course, the ten-dollar rule is not set in stone, but it's high enough to get a decent gift but low enough to make this a real challenge.

Write nice little quotes or sayings on them and then make plans to randomly hand them out on Valentine's Day. Keep your stash of cards with you throughout the day and secretly hand them out as you see fit.
Keep a mental list of whom you gave them to and at the end of the day, compare lists and talk about how great it is to be able to make someone's day a little happier because of such a small action. Red Dinner- Make Valentine's Day extra special by serving only red and pink foods for your special dinner. For appetizers, you could have red pepper dip or port wine cheese spread with crackers.
Tomato bruschetta would also be delicious. You could make homemade bread tinted with red food coloring. The main dish could be pizza, spaghetti, meatloaf covered in barbecue sauce, shrimp, or you could do breakfast for dinner and make red waffles, pancakes, even eggs (with food coloring of course)!
Beets, red peppers, tomatoes, and radishes can serve as the vegetable. For dessert how about red velvet cake, strawberry cheesecake, or pink-tinted white chocolate mousse? Beverages could be red wine, spiced cider, or even fruit punch.
